Hello
NORA drivers! Thanks for stopping by
for a quick recap of last weeks race
at Michigan.
The weather bad for the race, 81
degrees and cloudy with a wind out of
the east at 8 mph I believe. Davery
took the pole at 184.369 mph, Viper
was 2nd at 183.814mph, CC 3rd at
183.430, Silverfox 4th at 183.201 and
Speedfever started 5th at 183.103.
On the first lap coming out of the
second turn, Swaybar tapped Wildwalks
and set off the only accident of any
size for the day. Wild, Sundown, Wave,
Crad, and Dale all had to retire. At
that point I was thinking the yellows
could fly all day but not so! Only 4!
All in all very nicely done.
Davery held his No#1 position at the
start and would not succumb until lap
24 when CC moved up to take first
place. At that point Speedfever was
third, Silverfox fourth, and Slowgin
fifth. On lap 27 Davery stepped up to
the lead again. RSB took the lead on
lap 31, and Speedball on lap 36. In
all there were 16 lead changes during
the race. Not bad competition, aye?
On lap 37, a character who most
certainly would have made his presence
known by the end, CC, looses
connection. I hate it when that
happens!
By lap 51 Davery had made his way back
up front for the lead, with Speedball
running second, Speedfever third, One
buck fourth and Viper fifth. On lap 63
Davery still lead, but Silverfox had
moved up to second, Viper third,
Speedfever fourth and Slogin pops into
fifth postion. Silverfox is catching
Davery. Around lap 55 ther was about a
2 second gap and now on lap 63 there's
only .9 second gap. And sure enough,
on lap 67 Silverfox takes the lead. Is
it all over? Hell no it's not! On lap
72 Davery moves back around Silverfox
to take the lead position again. This
is turning out to be quite a shoot out
between the two.
It is lap 92 and all the green flag
pit stops are done..... Silverfox
leads, Viper has taken second (no
doubt due to his excellent pitting
strategy), Davery third, Speedball
fourth and Slogin hanging on for that
top five. Viper however could not hold
the No#2 position. I wonder if he got
second by right side tires only and it
came back to bite him? Anyway, while
Silverfox is walking away from the
field, Davery methodically chases down
and passed Viper for second on lap 93.
Speedfever, who ran really well all
day would seem to have sped down pit
road for a black flag. Not today
Speed!.........
In the end Silverfox who led 51 laps
just had the line and took the race by
more than 4 seconds. Davery led 43
laps, was very strong and finished
second. Viper was third almost 12
seconds back, Speedball had a strond
4th place finish 16 seconds back and
Slogin stayed in the top five 20
seconds back. CONGRATULATIONS
SILVERFOX!! You can't do it much
better than that!
Well, that's it from Michigan. Have a
great week and we'll see everyone at
Bristol on the 26th! (Who's excited?)
